Climate Finance

Climate finance is the lifeline of the global energy transition: it channels the investments, grants, and financial instruments needed to shift from fossil fuels to clean energy, bridge infrastructure gaps, and build resilience to climate impacts. In South Asia, unlocking climate finance means empowering governments, private sector and local communities with access to funds — whether from multilateral climate funds, development banks, or green bonds — to deploy renewable energy, scale up energy efficiency, ensure universal energy access, and reduce emissions. Effective climate finance also ensures that it is equitable, transparent, and aligned with national climate goals, so it supports just transitions that leave no one behind. As the climate crisis intensifies, mobilising, efficiently using, and scaling up climate finance will be essential to turning ambition into action.

Per Capita

Power Consumption

Energy poverty persists across South Asia, reflected in low per-capita electricity consumption in several countries, particularly Nepal, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. Even relatively higher-consuming nations remain below global standards. The Energy Transition Platform seeks to address these disparities by advancing a shift toward clean, affordable, and reliable energy for all countries in the region.
