Janathakshan

Janathakshan is a non-profit organization established in Sri Lanka under the Companies Action No. 7 of 2007. It has been established as the legacy organization of Practical Action, based on the 25 years of rich experience in sustainable development. Janathakshan; meaning ‘people’s technology’ or ‘technology for people’ roots itself in green and sustainable development principles. Janathakshan defines sustainability as a function of low carbon pathways, equitable economic development, inclusivity, resilience, harmony with natural and eco system resources. It operates on the principles of E. F. Schumacher’s philosophy. Janathakshan envisages to operate based on principles of participatory and inclusive development, working in partnership particularly with government and other stakeholders, promoting sustainable and green technologies.
