
The Energy Transition Platform South Asia was recently launched on the 12th of October (11 AM-1PM IST). The webinar began with a short presentation of the platform and its features. The partner organization representing the countries- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka provided an overview of the energy scenario of the respective countries. This was followed by Opening Remarks from two eminent speakers Mr Edwin Koekkoek, Team Leader in Green Inclusive Development, Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh and Mr. Joydeep Gupta, Editor, The Third Pole.
Mr Koekkoek shared his insights on the energy transition scenario for the South Asian region and highlighted the associated barriers & enablers, and how countries of this region can collaborate effectively to scale-up energy
transition. Mr. Gupta, also provided insights on the importance of a platform like ETP and having a more robust data representation to include the coverage of renewable energy, solar irrigation, etc could aid in accelerating energy transition of the region. This was followed by a moderated discussion where partner countries provided their views on the trajectory of energy transition, and opportunities& challenges to energy transition arising due to domestic & global situations.
