India’s updated NDC has been prepared after carefully considering its national circumstances and the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities (CBDR-RC). This update is a step forward towards its long term goal of reaching net-zero by 2070.

1 - Emission intensity

1.1 To reduce emissions intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030, from 2005 level

2 - Non-fossil Fuel Capacity

2.1 To achieve 50% cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2030, with the help of transfer of technology and low-cost international finance including from Green Climate Fund (GCF)

3 - Carbon Sink

3.1 To create an additional (cumulative) carbon sink of 2.5–3 GtCO2e through additional forest and tree cover by 2030

4 - LIFE

4.1 To put forward and further propagate a healthy and sustainable way of living based on traditions and values of conservation and moderation, including through a mass movement for ‘LIFE’– ‘Lifestyle for Environment’ as a key to combating climate change
